Dear Friends,

I love Davis!  It has been my home for 30 years where I have served. I have a wonderful mixed heritage family and community committed to social justice in Davis. My family has deep roots in social justice, and has supported and inspired my own journey in service to others.

Receiving the Thong Hy Huynh Award for Civil Rights Advocacy from City of Davis

My husband and I have all our children enrolled in the Davis public school system, where we value the wonderful education they receive.  As a UC Davis alumna and parent leader of children in Davis public schools I have direct experience with Montgomery Elementary, Pioneer Elementary, Harper Jr. High, and Davis High School.

I have committed my life to public service, including advocating for public education, English language learners, foster children, and students with special needs. I am now prepared to serve and represent you and your children on the DJUSD Board.

I ask you as neighbors and community members to help elect me as the DJUSD Board Member for District 5 to help maintain the high quality education our children deserve and receive from our outstanding teachers and aides. I am running to represent District 5 because I want  to provide strong leadership in order to:

  • Ensure all students receive a top-quality education

  • Promote equity and inclusion in our schools

  • Promote the care and education of students during a profound crisis

  • Promote preparation for university and vocational and tech education

  • Promote and support STEAM as well as career and technical educational opportunities

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, staff, and City leaders to ensure students have the technology, tools and social/emotional support necessary for distance learning

Supporting Inclusion & Equity

As a trustee I will place students first and ensure that teachers have the tools and resources they need to help students thrive. I will ethically practice the roles and responsibilities of a board member.

At Davis Black Lives Matter Rally

As a foster/adopt parent, I have strongly advocated for legislation and programs that support foster children and quality preschool. Along with my experience advocating for children, I have an open mind to the concerns and needs of parents, teachers, and students across all constituencies.

I would be honored to have you join my volunteer team and have your VOTE on or before NOVEMBER 3rd!  Please tell your friends and neighbors too.  I would also be honored to have you display a lawn sign.  For more information please call (530) 400-2511, sign-up on this page, and for updates go to https://www.facebook.com/Cecilia-for-School-Board-District-5-113858120414341
