Letter: Two for school board
FROM THE DAVIS ENTERPRISE
The Davis Joint Unified School District has the mission to “equip each student with the knowledge, skills, character, and well-being to thrive and contribute to an evolving and increasingly-connected world.” Our public school system and that promise will soon be challenged like never before as we begin a new school year in the midst of a continued COVID-19 pandemic and a related severe budget shortfall. The students, staff, and broader community need a Board of Trustees with the right vision, experience, and commitment.
That’s why, in addition to endorsing Lea Darrah in our Trustee Area 2, I also urge neighbors in Trustee Area 5 to vote for Cecilia Escamilla-Greenwald. Cecilia has been a dedicated parent, volunteer, and advocate for children and education, including serving on the committee that developed the District’s current strategic plan. As a member of Davis city advisory and oversight commissions, Cecilia has also built coalitions and advanced policies to improve transparency, equity, and public health and safety in our community.
Cecilia Escamilla-Greenwald and Lea Darrah will not only best represent their Trustee Areas, but will also work to uphold the District’s promise to all our children.
